“BLUE-COLLAR” CHRISTIANITY

“BLUE-COLLAR” CHRISTIANITY

What we need is some “blue-collar” Christianity, some “roll up your sleeves” kind of faith among the men of God. I’m talking about men who decide it’s time for a new vision. It’s time to dream a new dream.

Now some of us fathers have not been all that we should be. But the good news is that God can take lemons and make lemonade. He can hit a bull’s-eye with a crooked arrow. Maybe you can’t fix what went wrong yesterday, but you can do a lot about what happens today!

Getting a vision may mean you start turning off the television thirty minutes earlier and spend time on your knees with your wife and family. It may mean sitting down with the family one Sunday” “afternoon, opening Psalm 128, and asking, “How are we going to implement this in our home?”

As the father, you need to be in control of your family’s future. Satan is going to try to thwart and discourage you. Maybe the kids won’t cooperate at first. Your wife may wonder what’s happened to you for a while. You may feel like there’s no use trying.

But once you decide that you and your family are going to be guided by a God-given vision, the Lord will honor your leadership because you are His representative. May God bless and help you as you develop a vision for your home.”

“THREE KINDS OF FRIENDS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT”

“THREE KINDS OF FRIENDS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT”

“Every man needs three kind of friends. The Bible says, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12) It’s hard to break three ropes wound together.

A Paul

The first kind of friend we men need is an older, more mature believer, a father figure, someone who has been where we’re trying to go. We need someone to be a Paul to our Timothy, a spiritual father or older brother we can hang out with and from whom we can learn what it means to be a godly man.

Finding a friend like this may require that we lay aside our pride and say, “You know, I don’t really know all I need to know about being a man of God. I’ve a lot to learn about loving my wife and my children the way I need to. Maybe I need to hook up with an older and wiser man who is walking with the Lord.”

A Barnabas

“The second kind of friend we need is a soul brother. Somebody who loves you, but is not all that impressed with you. Somebody who’s not going to get nervous when you show up, but can deal with you eyeball to eyeball. This is more of a peer relationship, the kind that Paul had with Barnabas.

A brother is someone on your level, a friend who can relate to you where you are because he’s going through the same stuff. He can also be an accountability partner for you. The two of you can work through things together. And you can be like Barnabas to each other by encouraging each other.”

“A Timothy

Along with a father and a brother, you also need a son. This is the third kind of friend every man needs, a Timothy to your Paul. You and I need to provide a model that younger men and boys can look up to. They need to see Christ at work in us.

A much-used word today is mentor, which simply means a tutor or coach. Now this kind of Timothy or mentoring friendship might sound scary,”

“and in one sense it is. But the fact is that it is already happening at some level in most men’s lives. If you are a father, you are a mentor whether you know it or not. If you coach kids, teach kids, or even have kids in your neighborhood, you’re doing some kind of mentoring. And chances are that some younger man at work is watching you for clues on how or what to do on the job.

This is really front-burner stuff for me, because I have two teenaged sons. What I don’t have is lots of extra time, so I am learning to be more creative with the time I have.

I include the boys in the things I’m doing as much as possible. For us, the problem wasn’t so much finding extra time, but making good use of the time we have. The reason our church in Dallas has a mentoring program for boys without fathers is so that they don’t have to grow up for eighteen years without ever knowing what a man is supposed to be like—and what a Christian man in particular looks like.”

Prayer, from the heart of pastor Shockley

Prayer, from the heart of pastor Shockley

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know the Your Word says, woe be to those who call evil as good,” and that’s exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium, and we’ve inverted our values. We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word in the name of moral pluralism. We have worshiped other gods and called it multi-culturalism, and we’ve endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle. We have exploited the poor and called it a lottery. We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. Father, in the name of choice, we’ve killed our unborn, and then in the name of right-to-life we’ve executed the abortionist. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building esteem. We have abused power and called it political savvy. We have coveted our neighbors’ possessions and called it taxes. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, O God. Know our hearts today. Try us, and show us any wickedness in us. And then cleanse us from every sin, and set us free! Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent here by you God who have been ordained by You to govern this great USA. Grant them Your wisdom to rule, and may their decisions direct us to the center of Your will. I ask it in the name of Your Son, the Living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

“You are capable of more than others expect of you

This untold wealth within you is uniquely yours because God creates no two people for the same purpose. Your personality, abilities, and resources are God’s gifts, bestowed on you before He gave you the breath of life, and they contain the possibility for bringing meaning and fulfillment into your life. They are available, however, only to those who put forth the effort to recover them and to use them according to their God-given specifications. Learning to tap the hidden wealth of your potential is the greatest task and the most pressing need of your life because if you do not discover how to expose and use this treasure, you will die with it. This wealth, which is the all-surpassing power of God within you, is never given to be buried. God wants you to release all He gave you for the benefit of others and the blessing of your” “Like the young man who could not restore the house to its former grandeur without understanding the builder’s original design and intent, you cannot expose the gifts, talents, and natural abilities that God put into you if you do not become reconnected with Him. All you do and are apart from God will always fall short of the true value and capacity of your potential. Therefore, fulfillment and value are impossible without Him. Only by returning to your Source/Manufacturer/ Creator can you hope to unlock His power within you. You must know your Source to become your potential. This is the foundation key.” “Man was designed to live by faith. God’s original design for men and women calls for them to live from the perspective of faith with eternity in their hearts. The Book of Hebrews defines faith as “being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). This is God’s mode of operation. He is not influenced by outward appearances; neither is His power diminished by seemingly impossible obstacles.”

Jeremiah 29:11-15 NKJV

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive. Because you have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon”—”

“WILL YOUR ABILITIES BE LOST TO THE WORLD?

“WILL YOUR ABILITIES BE LOST TO THE WORLD?

You possess awesome potential within waiting to be activated and released. The release of your potential demands that you refuse to be satisfied with your latest accomplishment. Only then will you tap into the vast bill of credit with which you were born. Because potential, by definition, is the large, unknown bank of resources you were given at birth, what you have accomplished is no longer your potential. Releasing your potential requires a willingness to move beyond the familiar into the realm of possibilities. The release of your potential demands
that you refuse to be satisfied
with your latest accomplishment.”

Abortion part 3

Abortion part 3

“Death, in its simplest form,
is the termination of potential.

God created everything with the hidden ability to fulfill itself. The Bible’s record of creation states that the seed of everything is in itself to produce after its kind (see Genesis 1:12). All creation possesses the hidden ability to be everything it is supposed to be: In every seed there is a forest;
in every fish, a school;
in every bird, a flock;
in every cow, a herd;
in every girl, a woman;
in every boy, a man; and
in every man, a nation.
It is important for us to remember that every great tree was once a seed, every woman”

“was once a fetus, every man was once a boy, and every nation was once in the loins of a man. It is also interesting to note that whenever God deals with man, He always speaks in terms of the generational seed within his loins. In God’s calculation of life, one equals many, little equals much, small equals great, and less equals more. Therefore, to abort a seed is to kill a forest, to abort a cow is to kill a herd, to abort a boy is to kill a man, to abort a girl is to kill a woman, and to abort a man is to destroy a nation. God told Abraham, the great patriarch of history,
I will make you a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great and you will be a blessing.…and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you (Genesis 12:2-3).
Abortion is the ultimate tragedy. It robs life of its essence and denies the future its value. ABORTION THROUGH IGNORANCE

Abortion is the ignorance of responsibility and the denial of obligation. Abortion is self-comfort at the expense of fruitfulness, because all abortions “trees, and fish, he also battles for the right to terminate human babies. Perhaps the situation would improve if every doctor who performs this tragic operation would be reminded before each abortion that the opportunity to perform this surgery is his only because his mother did not abort him.
The abortion issue is, therefore, not just a problem of the taking of a life, though that is the fatal end result. Even more, abortion is the ignorance and the lack of understanding of the principle of potential that pervades our world. The majority of those who die each year are guilty of abortion because they didn’t understand the basic relevance of the concept of potential to their individual lives.
The abortion of potential is the death of the future. It affects generation after generation. When Adam broke God’s law, he aborted his seed’s potential for becoming all they were intended to be. Men and women throughout all ages have fallen far short of the glory of the Creator. The word glory means the “true nature” or “full essence” of a thing. In other words, to fall short of glory means to live below your true potential. This is what “God calls sin. Sin is not a behavior; it is a disposition. One of the great biblical writers states it this way:
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for [the glory of] the sons of God to be revealed (Romans 8:18-19).
This passage states that the fall of man prevented the full glory or true potential of mankind from being revealed or manifested. All creation was affected by man’s sin. God’s creation is waiting for man’s glory or true potential to be exposed because creation’s destiny is tied to man’s. Thus, any abortion, whether it’s the abortion of a dream, a vision, art, music, writing, business, leadership, or inventions, affects both nature and the succeeding generations of man. How many children yet unborn were des“destined to sing the song you have never written?
When Adam aborted the vision God had placed in his heart and disobeyed the directives of the Manufacturer, he changed the lives of the entire human race that lay hidden in his loins. The Book of Romans states:
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned [in Adam].… Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men (Romans 5:12,18).
It is vital that we understand the principle demonstrated in these passages. It is the awesome realization that if your potential is not released, it will affect this generation and all the generations of man yet to live. Even creation will testify against you. If you abort your potential, you will be guilty of robbing the world of the treasure you came to this planet to deliver. The fact that you were born is evidence that God knew earth needed the potential you are pregnant with. It is, therefore, imperative that “you refuse to leave this planet without giving birth to those dreams, ideas, visions, and inventions you carry in the womb of your faith right now. Do not abort your baby of potential. Rob the grave of the treasure you carry. Leave the picture of your potential on the”
